Evangelism at Peru State College

During the second to last week of January, we challenged students to share their faith on campus. Four women at Peru State College responded and  divided into two teams. I ended up taking Leslie Miller (soph) and Melissa Rexus (fresh) to share their faith.   Three sophomores, Ashley (cheerleader), Dana and Jeremy (football player) were willing to talk to us. Both Leslie and Melissa observed as I  initiated conversation and led into the Gospel.  My face beamed with delight when I  watched  Leslie and Melissa chime in. Leslie shared with them the analogy of  how our sin  can be compared to a crusty-dried-moldy cake. People often have the tendency to try to cover their cake with nice chocolate frosting (good works) to pay for their sin instead of trusting in the complete payment or our sin when Jesus died on the cross.   Melissa boldly shared her struggles with drinking once she came to college. She said while in the party scene God continually convicted her that this wasn’t a lifestyle that pleased Him. She then invited the two women to her small group where they discussed their struggles and searched the Bible to see what it says about it.
